The Challenge - Injectable Vaccination

AlgaVac is leveraging its patented breakthrough in oral delivery technology to provide sustainable disease solutions to protect aquaculture and the global food supply

Fish vaccination by injection is an expensive process requiring physical animal handling, specialized manpower & medical devices. In addition, young fish are too small to be injected, resulting in early viral outbreaks and total crop loss.
Currently, there is no effective method to treat or prevent viral disease in shrimp, therefore infected shrimp farms cause a total loss of the crop.

Technology Platform

AlgaVac’s technology platform harnesses microalgae as a cell-based factory and bio-encapsulator. The result is a versatile oral delivery platform for vaccines and disease treatments in aquaculture, doing away with the need for injectables. The vaccine algal powder is mixed with the feed, enabling green, friendly and efficient aquaculture vaccination through regular feeding.
